Your new role:

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant – Neurosurgery Outpatients, you will provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist nursing expertise to support safe, high-quality, person-centred care across the Neurosurgery Specialty Outpatient Department. Working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening outpatient services, improving access to care and addressing long waitlists through innovative nursing models of care. You will:

• Provide advanced clinical expertise, consultancy and leadership across Neurosurgery Specialty Outpatient services, supporting contemporary standards of clinical nursing practice and patient care.
• Lead and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of innovative nurse-led models of care designed to improve outpatient efficiency, access and patient outcomes, including supporting the management of neurosurgery waitlists.
• Drive clinical quality, service improvement, innovation and evidence-based practice, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to implement and evaluate improvements to care and service delivery.
• Act as a clinical resource, mentor and educator, supporting staff through education, coaching, professional development and the translation of contemporary research and clinical practice into the outpatient environment.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced and collaborative nursing professional who can bring advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership capability and a commitment to delivering exceptional person-centred care within a specialist neurosurgical environment. You have:

• Current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse and have a tertiary nursing qualification such as a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent; a relevant postgraduate qualification or current enrolment is highly desirable.
• Demonstratrable advanced clinical knowledge, skills and competence in neuroscience nursing, with experience managing complex neurosurgical patients and applying expert clinical judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Proven clinical leadership and service improvement capability, including experience contributing to performance targets, specialist standards, quality initiatives, change management, innovation and evidence-based practice.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative team member who can provide clinical consultancy, education and mentoring while building effective multidisciplinary relationships and demonstrating empathy, integrity and respect.

Unit Profile

Neuroscience provides specialised and expert care to neurosurgical patients including, but not limited to, malignancies, trauma and acute haemorrhages. The function of the unit is to provide high quality specialised, safe and efficient, patient centred care to neurosurgical patients. Care is delivered by a cohesive interprofessional team who embrace innovation and positive change, resulting in optimal patient outcomes and a cost-efficient service.
