Solution Architect required to lead the delivery of high quality, cost effective and sustainable Information Communication Technology (ICT) architectures and designs for enterprise ICT solutions following good practice frameworks.

The role: 

Reporting to the Director, Clinical Program, we currently have an opportunity for an experienced Solution Architect to deliver architecture services for a variety of Queensland Health solutions.  It will be your responsibility to lead the production of high quality, cost effective and sustainable architectures and designs for enterprise ICT solutions.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure system requirements are sufficiently captured to drive the architecting of a solution that fully meets the needs and expectations of system stakeholders.
• Identify and assess the implications of applicable Queensland Health, whole-of-government and industry related policies, standards and any other constraints (including funding and schedule) that impact architectural decision-making and ensure these are appropriately reflected in the solution architecture by evaluating and undertaking an impact analysis on major architectural options and assess associated risks and issues, ensuring that the solution architecture balances function, service, quality and system management requirements.
• Consult, negotiate and communicate with system stakeholders and ICT professionals to promote shared and consistent understanding and acceptance of the proposed solution.
• Provide expert advice and communicate solution alternatives, architectural risks, issues and resulting implications.
• Quality Assurance and review of architecture documentation.
• Manage project and operational work using project management methodologies to prioritise, organise and implement resource and work schedules by defining the resources and services required to deliver solution architectures.
• Develop comprehensive responses, briefs, submissions, presentations and reports to guide the development and implementation of solution architecture.
• Promote and ensure that appropriate methods and tools for solution architecture are adopted and used effectively within the program/project ensuring the conducting and documenting of architectural trade-off analysis to support and justify architectural decisions made during the specification of the solution architecture.
• Develop and manage relationships with and between stakeholders, including senior program/project executives, facilitating open communication and collaborative working relationships.
• Lead the development of solution architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with and traceability across specified requirements within enterprise architecture and governance frameworks to ensure fit for purpose solutions addressing primarily the specific business problem through each of the architectural domains and their respective views.

Are you right for this role?

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate experience in technology design including integration of technologies and have specialist knowledge in multiple architecture domains as well as network and web architectures.  A pragmatic and analytical approach to tasks is essential for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.

We are also seeking candidates with well-developed communication skills and a customer service mentality. You will be comfortable building relationships, consulting, and negotiating to fully address client needs, and translate this into a comprehensive and efficient business solution.

Additionally, you will be adept at presenting technical ideas and concepts to a range of stakeholders.

The Clinical Program is a commercial business unit within Delivery Services Branch that operates on a fee for service basis. Consultancy services offered to Queensland Health customers include Analysis, Design, Project Management, Development and Testing.

The Clinical Program operates similar to commercial ICT consultancies where consultants move been assignments (and clients) and may be expected to work simultaneously on multiple assignments/projects as they transition between assignments or if an assignment is small in size and complexity. The Clinical Program encourages consultants to develop close working relationships with clients and frequently physically co-locate with clients across Brisbane in order to develop close working relationships.
