About the role
The Staff Specialist - Rheumatology provides high-quality, cost-effective and evidence-based rheumatology services within the Medicine Service Line at Redcliffe Hospital. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the role delivers specialist inpatient and outpatient care while contributing to the ongoing development, quality and performance of rheumatology services across Metro North Health.
The successful candidate will provide expert rheumatology consultations, deliver a joint aspiration and injection service, and participate in clinical governance, teaching, research and quality improvement activities. This role also supports the training and supervision of junior medical staff, contributes to service development initiatives, and plays an active part in research programs including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and scleroderma research.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide specialist rheumatology inpatient and outpatient services to patients at Redcliffe Hospital.
- Deliver a joint aspiration and injection service while supporting high-quality patient-centred care.
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, junior doctor supervision and registrar training programs.
- Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement activities, audits and multidisciplinary committees.
- Support and contribute to rheumatology research activities, including SLE and scleroderma research programs.
