About us:

Capricorn Coast Hospital is just 25 minutes from Rockhampton and sits at the heart of a stunning stretch of coastline, home to around 37,000 people. Think beaches, tropical weather and island views — with a vibrant local community right on the doorstep.

The hospital delivers a wide range of health services, from 24-hour emergency care and acute inpatient services to maternity, paediatrics, rehabilitation, palliative care, mental health, allied health and Indigenous health services.

About the role:

As our Senior Medical Officer, you'll join a welcoming, experienced team delivering high-quality care across the beautiful Capricorn Coast.

Provide professional leadership, support the development of Registrars, RMOs and medical students, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver great care to the local community.

With CQHHS operating across multiple sites, there's also plenty of variety. Opportunities to work across larger and smaller facilities can broaden your clinical experience, challenge your skills and introduce you to different communities — with the right support, rostering and travel arrangements in place.

About you:

  • You hold an MBBS or equivalent qualification and are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia, with current ALS certification and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Rural, emergency or general practice experience is highly regarded.
  • Strong clinical skills across general and emergency medicine, with the ability to confidently manage trauma and the broad range of presentations you'd expect in a rural hospital.
  • Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team are key to your approach.
  • Committed to quality, patient safety and better ways of working, with an interest in teaching, mentoring and supporting the development of medical staff and students. Fellowship or training with ACRRM or RACGP, along with qualifications such as APLS, EMST or FARGP, would be highly regarded.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $564,663 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $193,191 - $199,233 p.a.
  • A salary rate between $193,191 - $223,136 p.a.
  • A salary rate between $223,136 - $259,187 p.a.
  • A salary rate between $266,839 - $282,912 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
