What you'll do

As the Senior Public Health Officer/Pharmacist, you will provide expert advice and leadership in the interpretation and application of medicines legislation across a diverse range of healthcare settings in Queensland. You will contribute to the development, review and implementation of legislative, regulatory and policy frameworks that support the safe and effective use of medicines, while monitoring emerging trends and developments in contemporary healthcare practice to inform future reforms. Working closely with stakeholders, professional networks and regulatory bodies, you will apply change management principles to support the implementation and evaluation of legislative amendments and ensure ongoing compliance. The role involves preparing high-quality correspondence, reports, briefings and policy documents, translating complex legislation and research into practical advice for health professionals, policymakers and the community. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, policies and operational processes within the unit, while working collaboratively to deliver strategic priorities and high-quality outcomes for Queensland Health.

About you

We are searching for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated high level quality use of medicines and pharmaceutical knowledge, and/or contemporary regulatory practice and legislative knowledge and skills as well as broad knowledge of healthcare settings and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as an effective team member, ability to adapt quickly to a dynamic environment in the provision of expert medicines, poisons, legislative and contemporary regulatory practice to a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated highly advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with staff at all levels within the organisation and external stakeholders, including development and maintenance of professional networks with a range of organisations.
  • Experience in stakeholder relationship management to support effective business change, including the ability to initiate relationships and influence key stakeholders.
