About us:
CQMHAODS supports people across Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana, reaching more than 250,000 people across CQ.
We provide specialist mental health and alcohol and other drugs care through services located across the region. Rockhampton is our principal service centre and is home to our acute adult inpatient facilities, while Gladstone has an Adult Step-Up Step-Down facility and Rockhampton has a Community Care Unit.
We work alongside hospitals, health services, community organisations and private providers to connect people with the right support, reduce the impact of mental illness and AOD concerns, and support recovery.
About the role:
- Bring your clinical expertise. Provide high-level mental health support, clinical leadership and expert guidance to people experiencing a crisis, while promoting dignity, safety and wellbeing.
- Be the connector. Work closely with guests, families, carers, peer workers, the Emergency Department and other health professionals to make sure people get the right support at the right time.
- Keep things safe and moving. Provide clinical oversight of the Crisis Support Space (CSS), identify and manage risks, and help people navigate smoothly between the CSS, Emergency Department and other services.
- Lead, support and improve. Champion best practice, mentor and support peer and non-clinical workers, contribute to clinical procedures and protocols, and help shape a safe, collaborative and recovery-focused service.
About you:
- Current registration and/or a practising certificate, with postgraduate mental health qualifications highly desirable. Credentialed Mental Health Nurse status with ACMHN and AMHP appointment are also welcomed — or a willingness to work towards them.
- Bring strong clinical expertise in mental health assessment, risk assessment, therapeutic interventions, referrals and applying the Mental Health Act 2016, with the confidence to make sound decisions in complex situations.
- Build strong relationships with consumers, carers, peer workers, professionals and community partners. You'll bring excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, along with a genuine commitment to culturally safe and inclusive care.
- Provide clinical leadership, advocate for consumers and carers, and help grow and improve the Crisis Support Space model. You'll be comfortable working independently, adapting to changing needs and finding better ways to deliver safe, person-centred care.
