Cairns Hospital is the largest major referral hospital in Far North Queensland, providing specialized health services and comprehensive care to patients from the Torres Strait to Tully.
The Rehab & Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) provides a CHHHS wide multidisciplinary service to patients requiring Acute Stroke, Neurological, Rehabilitation or Older Persons care, Clinical Services Capability Framework level 5. We aim to provide time critical treatment option for ischemic stroke patients along with escalation pathway for those requiring surgical or neurointerventional pathway options.
About your role:
Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):
- Responsibility for planning and delivery of service to an allocated patient load.
- Routine patient cares including assistance with activities of daily living.
- Administer and manage medications, IV therapy, phlebotomy, cannulation, and provide pre/post procedural care.
- Assess, monitor, and respond to patient needs, including complex wound care, risk management, care planning, and recognising deterioration.
- Coordinate discharge planning, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and support compliance with NSQHS standards.
