About the role

The Senior Physiotherapist delivers high-level physiotherapy services to residents within a Residential Aged Care Home environment, supporting the maintenance and improvement of residents' health, functional ability and quality of life. Based primarily at Cooinda House, this role works within an interdisciplinary skill-sharing model alongside Occupational Therapists, providing comprehensive assessment and management of mobility, pressure injury risk, cognition, functional ability and equipment needs to enhance resident safety and independence.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide advanced clinical services to residents with complex care needs, including those requiring secure dementia care, specialised residential aged care, psychogeriatric, bariatric and intellectual disability supports. The role also contributes to service development, staff supervision, education, research and quality improvement activities, helping to ensure contemporary and evidence-based care is delivered across specialised residential care services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Deliver advanced physiotherapy assessments and interventions for residents with complex health needs, exercising independent clinical judgement and applying evidence-based practice to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice regarding mobility, falls prevention, pressure injury management, functional independence, equipment prescription and physiotherapy service delivery.
  • Collaborate effectively with residents, families and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support coordinated, person-centred care and service planning.
  • Provide education, mentoring and clinical supervision to allied health assistants, students and less experienced practitioners to support workforce capability development.
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement, research and service development initiatives that enhance physiotherapy services and resident care outcomes within specialised residential care settings.
