We have fulfilling career opportunities for Psychologists to join Woodford Correctional Centre. Within this role you will provide mental health assessment and intervention, and assist prisoners to desist from future offending and to promote successful re-integration into the community. Woodford Correctional Centre psychological services team is a large and energetic multidisciplinary team supported by several Senior Psychologists. You will be supported with onsite training and regular professional development opportunities within a supportive team environment.

The Psychological Services Unit serves under the Specialist Operations Branch of QCS, provides specialist support to psychological services staff operating within correctional centres through the provision of clinical and practice advice, professional development activities, and governance oversight.

LOCATION: Woodford Correctional Centre is the largest correctional centre in Queensland and accommodates male prisoners. The centre has both a Maximum-Security Unit and a purpose-built Safety Unit - accommodating some of the most complex and vulnerable male prisoners. A Psychologist provides high quality psychological services, including psychological assessment, case management and interventions that promote the mental health, well-being and safety of adults accommodated in correctional centres.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

- Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based assessment and intervention for adults, experiencing difficulties related to suicidality, mental health problems, cognitive impairment, or developmental disorders.
- Well-developed written communication skills with the ability to provide high quality professional reports and case notes.
- Well-developed verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse client group.
- Knowledge, interpretation and application of legislation, policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:

- Eligible for registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- If eligible for registration as Provisional Psychologist, must be either currently on the 4+2 internship pathway, or have completed an APAC accredited 5th year degree in psychology and eligible for 5+1 internship pathway.
