Cultural Liaison Officer Identified

Community Corrections is responsible for supervising adult clients in the community.
Staff aim to protect the community and reduce re-offending by supervising clients in the community in which they live and encouraging clients to adopt more pro-social attitudes and behaviours. In this role you will increase contact and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through the provision of more Cultural Liaison Officers to the regions. QCS is keen to ensure these roles are supported and positioned to make a measurable difference to those on Orders.
Northern Region Community Corrections have one permanent full-time vacancy at our Townsville District Office.

There are no mandatory qualifications for this position however possession of a C class licence is required and may be mandatory in specific locations. The essential requirements for this role are:
- Ability to contribute to and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Current knowledge and interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, trends and practices and their impact on criminal behaviour with a drive for continual learning and professional development.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain stakeholder relationships (particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations) including where the working relationship is at distance, in order to promote positive service outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to maintain effective internal and external professional partnerships.
- Self-awareness and ability to be a positive representative of QCS and ability to role model behaviours and attitudes in alignment with QCS values and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to produce written reports, represent QCS and contribute within forums and meetings.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of issues and information.
