QCS’s strategic priorities on information privacy to all QCS Divisions, and the investigation of privacy breaches and complaints received by the agency. Providing guidance and mentorship to the Privacy team will be critical to ensure investigation processes, governance and the provision of advice are consistent and compliant with the legislation.
You will be responsible to the Manager, Right to Information and Privacy Group for instilling and upholding high calibre team behaviour and standards that preserve confidentiality, discretion and tact when dealing with the investigation of privacy breaches and complaints and the provision of privacy advice.

- Manage, monitor and mentor a Privacy team as per the IPA and Corrective Services Act 2006 (CSA) to ensure high standards and levels of consistency in the provision of privacy advice and integrity, discretion and tact in the investigation of privacy breaches and complaints.
- Provide high level advice regarding privacy matters to senior management and other organisational levels within QCS.
- Assist the Manager, Right to Information and Privacy in the production of weekly update status reports of all privacy matters to QCS senior management.
- Lead in the development, updating or implementation of relevant policies, standards and/or procedures to ensure service delivery and legislative compliance are achieved, with mitigated risk to the processes of QCS.
- Develop and deliver a training program to QCS stakeholders regarding their privacy responsibilities under both the Information Privacy Act 2009 and CSA.
- Develop a mentoring and training program to enhance the privacy skills of individual Privacy team members.
- Process complex, high risk / sensitive privacy breach and complaint investigations in line with the legislation and QCS policies.
- Monitor outputs to ensure consistency in privacy advice/investigations and ensure these are evidenced and accountable.
- Supervise the co-ordination of audits and/or collation of Workgroup performance reports to senior levels of QCS.
- Oversee work overflows and identify improvements to systems or processes.
- Effectively interact, where required, with members of the public, QCS employees or other Government Agencies in a highly professional and courteous manner, and Lead in the identification of business improvements regarding the responsibilities of the Privacy team.
