Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.

The Intelligence and Investigations Branch within QCS is comprised of two units – the Queensland Corrective Services Intelligence Group (QCSIG) and the Corrective Services Investigation Unit (CSIU).

QCSIG, in addition to the development and coordination of QCS Agency wide intelligence resources, is responsible for the Agency’s central intelligence function and the delivery of relevant strategic, tactical and operational intelligence products.

The Manager, Intelligence will be responsible and accountable for the provision of comprehensive advice and information to appropriate personnel through the gathering and analysis of intelligence data that supports QCS management to develop and implement risk management strategies. Specifically the information will assist management in maintaining the security, good order and management of offenders within correctional facilities and the wider community. This role also provides supervision to staff involved in a range of tasks including the collection, analysis and dissemination of intelligence products to a diverse range of stakeholders.

In this role you will:

- Provide comprehensive intelligence advice and products to management and stakeholders
- Provide timely advice to management and stakeholders on operational, tactical and strategic issues.
- Contribute to both tactical and strategic intelligence functions and analyse and present intelligence information to management and authorised
personnel and external agencies as required.
- Generate and disseminate intelligence reports, intelligence summaries, profiles, bulletins, analytical charts and reports.
- Respond to information requests, ensuring the exchange and release of information complies with legislation, policy and procedures.
- Conduct projects or research tasks to address specific concerns or identify opportunities for business improvement.
- Coordinate the collection, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of intelligence data and information
- Coordinate the maintenance of a collection plan to meet operational requirements.
- Gather, record, analyse and disseminate information to corrections management with a specific focus on high security prisoners, to identify potential prisoner incidents/unrest, prevent prisoner escapes, and prevent the introduction and usage of contraband within correctional facilities.
- Maintain an Intelligence Management Plan (IMP).
- Ensure compliance with legislation and intelligence related procedures.
- Ensure standards within the QCS Intelligence Guidelines are maintained.
- Ensure compliance with reporting timeframes.
- Comply with the Intelligence Management Plan.
- Adhere with intelligence related procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure operational and performance objectives are met.
- Build capability of intelligence functions across the Branch and the Agency
- Supervise, motivate and encourage the professional practice of staff in the performance of their duties.
- Provide clear direction, expectations and timeframes when delegating tasks.
- Ensure individual Performance and Development Plans are completed.
- Maintain own level of knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to managing staff.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of intelligence training.
- Develop intelligence related training material.
- Coordinate the delivery of intelligence training to stakeholders as required.
- Maintain training records.
- Development and maintenance of a training schedule.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships
- Liaise and negotiate with relevant Agency staff and other key stakeholders including other criminal justice and law enforcements agencies.
- Ensure the timely provision of advice to stakeholders to ensure prompt management of emerging threats and issues.
- Ensure the exchange of information is compliant with privacy laws and other relevant legislation and procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong internal networks that support an effective intelligence function.
- Ensure the appropriate exchange of information with the Queensland Police Service, other agencies and departments to optimise effective working relationships.
