The Principal Data Analyst provides strategic, high-level advice on QCS operations by performing statistical analysis based on complex data extractions. The role ensures that strategic decision-making and planning is informed by accurate, in-depth data analysis, and carries significant consequences relevant to long-term outcomes for QCS.

In this role you will:

  • Assess the impact of proposed legislation, policy and practice changes on prisoner and offender populations.
  • Provide high level expert advice and recommendations to the Director, Operational Performance and Reporting Group and the Manager, Operational Performance and Manager, Performance and Reporting on a diverse and complex range of issues relevant to statistical and performance data analysis.
  • Provide extensive analysis of correction system trends using specialist knowledge of correctional data and statistical techniques.
  • Prepare reports, graphical presentation briefs and other correspondence, in relation to operational performance data analysis.
  • Work with senior managers to align organisational strategies to improve QCS performance measurement, evaluation and reporting practices.
  • Undertake high-level consultation, discussion and negotiation with key internal clients and stakeholders to ensure effective QCS operations.
  • Maintain currency of relevant legislation, policies and procedures relevant to identified corporate business functions in the context of the correctional system, in addition to emerging issues and trends impacting corrective services.
