Our dynamic Workforce Culture, Integrity and Capability (WCIC) Division provides a range of services to all business functions across Queensland Corrective Services. The Staff Officer directly supports the Deputy Commissioner-Workforce Culture, Integrity and Capability, ensuring high level strategic and operational support is provided to the Deputy Commissioner to deliver on significant priorities.

Queensland Corrective Services is currently recruiting for a Staff Officer for the Office of the Deputy Commissioner- Workforce Culture, Integrity and Capability (WCIC) Division. The Division has significant workforce responsibilities and functions including the Culture and Leadership Unit, First Nations and Murridhagun Cultural Centre, People Capability Command, Policy and Legal Command, and Professional Standards and Governance Command.
We are looking for a highly organised and motivated individual with demonstrated experience coordinating multi-faceted tasks and priorities. In this role you will work closely with the Deputy Commissioner WCIC.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain extensive knowledge of high-level information on issues across QCS.
- Build and maintain strategic networks and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage WCIC and other information systems and processes to ensure deadlines are clearly identified and met.
- Provide professional and timely advice on highly sensitive and complex issues, and manages two staff under supervision.
- Develop and maintain key data sources and registers for the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, to enable provision of high-level and immediate responses on the status of departmental matters and initiatives.
- Oversee the strategic analysis of incoming departmental and Ministerial correspondence to determine issues for escalation to the Deputy Commissioner.
We are looking for a person with:
- Sound and demonstrated experience in leading project management activities.
- Ability to think and plan strategically and to also initiate and innovate key work that links to strategic objectives.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills for negotiating with internal and external stakeholders, often executives who have competing interests on sensitive and complex issues, to deliver on urgent deadlines.

Please note that though flexible work arrangements may be available on request, the occupant of this role needs to work from office on most times due to the nature of the duties allocated.
