The Ambulatory Oncology Department located at Townsville University Hospital are seeking experienced Clinical Nurse to undertake a Clinical Research role for the PROMISE study.
This is a temporary part-time role, commencing 01/07/2024 - 24/04/2025, working 24 hours per fortnight.
The purpose of this role will be to coordinate the research study “Patient Reported Outcome Measures in cancer care: a hybrid effectiveness- Implementation trial to optimise Symptom control and health service Experience (Otherwise known as The PROMISE study)” at Townsville Cancer Centre.

The opportunity
This is a multi-site research study evaluating the effectiveness/cost-effectiveness and implementation of the use of electronic patient-reported outcome measures (ePROMs) in routine cancer care to improve patient outcomes. Participants recruited to the intervention arm of the study will complete electronic surveys at various times throughout their treatment and follow up, as per the research protocol as identified and supported by the Clinical Research Nurse.
The role of the Clinical Research Nurse includes patient screening to identify potential participants, recruitment of identified candidates, obtaining an informed consent for the patient to participate, training of participants in using the ePROM tool, data collection, and monitoring of the patient-reported outcomes to triage to appropriate medical, nursing and allied health disciplines.
The successful candidate will work with the local research team and the coordinating centre, and liaise with the wider multidisciplinary teams in both medical oncology and radiation oncology. The successful candidate will be trained and mentored in the research processes involved by both the local research team and coordinating centre.

- Salary rates between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h. (NG6-1)

Role requirements
- Mandatory:
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
- Highly Desirable:
- Extensive experience in Oncology Outpatient Setting relevant to the role.
- Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in Oncology nursing will be well regarded.
- Experience with the MOSAIQ oncology information system, and organisational and communication skills is essential.
- Research and/or project management experience will be well regarded.

- Ability to provide nursing leadership in the clinical and professional setting including the role modelling of effective communication and problem solving.
- Proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position in order to achieve outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
- Proven ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level and demonstrate own professional development.
