Occupational Therapist - Senior (Paediatrics)


The Occupational Therapy Department at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist for a permanent full-time role.

The role is responsible for the provision of high-level clinical services for patients in the areas of acute Paediatrics including initiating and leading service improvement, research, and quality activities. The role is part of multidisciplinary team providing patient centred care in line with the organisational values and strategic directions.

Townsville University Hospital, located adjacent to one of Queensland’s leading tertiary institutions, James Cook University, is the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, providing specialist referral services for 700,000 people living from Mackay, to the Torres Strait, to the Northern Territory border.

The opportunity   
This role is the perfect opportunity for a motivated clinician looking for a new challenge or progression in their career, who possess a high level of experience working in the areas acute Paediatrics including Burns management, Feeding Clinic, Growth and Development Clinic, and Paediatric Intensive Care Service (PICS) to patients within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS).

The role is responsible for the provision of high-level clinical services for patients in the areas of acute Paediatrics including initiating and leading service improvement, research, and quality activities.  The role is part of multidisciplinary team providing patient centred care in line with the organisational values and strategic directions.

Generous remuneration package value up to $152,775 p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $4769.60 - $5132.40 p.f. (NG6-1)

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Clinical Expertise:  
    Demonstrated advanced level of knowledge, expertise and skill in Occupational Therapy services within area of Paediatrics within an acute hospital setting.
  • Clinical Ability:  
    Demonstrated ability to provide Occupational Therapy clinical services of a complex nature, where established principles, procedures and methods require some expansion, adaptation or modification.
  • Communication:  
    Demonstrated ability to provide general clinical advice and education sessions to professional and operational supervisors regarding service delivery and improvement opportunities.
  • Leadership:  
    Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate local service improvement initiatives and provide clinical supervision to subordinate personnel.
