Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service, is a 24-hour accident and emergency hospital with a 15-bed acute facility, general medicine and four long-stay nursing home-type beds. Hughenden is a town in North West Queensland that lies on the banks of the Flinders, the longest river in Queensland.

Eligible health workers who make the move to work with us may receive up to $70,000 in incentive payments under Scheme 2 of the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme (conditions apply).

About your opportunity:

Permanent part-time, 2 x positions available - 56 hours per fortnight, Location: Hughenden

Utilising clinical skills, knowledge and experience the position holder will deliver a high standard of evidence-based person-centred care to patients, providing support to patients, families and other healthcare colleagues within the Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following: 

  • Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
  • Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.

Generous remuneration package value up to $89,499 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $41.73 to $53.53 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5)
  • Annual leave with relevant loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements:

  • Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Highly Desirable: Experience in Emergency Department, Rural Nursing and a current Adult Life Support certificate or willingness to work towards.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening.
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
