The Occupational Therapy Department at Townsville University Hospital are seeking a client focused Allied Health Assistant to join their highly experienced and supportive team for a permanent full-time role.

This role is a perfect opportunity for a motivated person who enjoys working with people to support their transition through hospital.

This includes assisting with the provision of Occupational Therapy by providing assistance with patient care through facilitation of the effective and efficient completion of clinical support tasks.

Generous remuneration package value up to $79,737 p.a.comprising: 

  • Salary rates between $2548.10 - $2678.70 p.f. (CA3)
  • Annual leave loading + leave
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution

Role requirement   

  • While not mandatory, a Certificate IV – Allied Health Assistant would be well regarded. Evidence of any Certificates/Qualifications held to be provided prior to commencement of duty.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Roster: This position is required to work on weekends on a rostered basis through the Department's Weekend Service.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:   

  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in allied health, such as knowledge of health care system, computer literacy, medical terminology, general medical conditions and basic anatomy. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team with a good understanding of own scope of practice in a complex and demanding work environment with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Under supervision, demonstrated ability to provide a defined range of patient interventions as delegated by the Allied Health Professional.
  • Demonstrated personal time management skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
