The purpose of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Talent Pool (talent pool) is to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce representation, across all streams and levels throughout CHQ and across the state-wide health system more broadly, including Hospital and Health Services, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector and Primary Health Networks.

Opportunity

This Talent Pool collects a variety of information that will help identify suitable applicants for current and future temporary employment opportunities in a range of occupational areas:

Eligibility

To be eligible you must meet the below criteria:

  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; and
  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
  • is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives.

It is a condition of the Talent Pool application process, that applicants identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander.

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

To allow the panel to confirm that you are eligible to be considered for Indigenous Identified roles, the panel may either:

  • Your application will be reviewed and considered throughout the next 12 months. You may be contacted further by hiring managers if an opportunity arises.
  • Your details will remain in the Talent Pool for a period of 12 months.
  • Registration into the Talent Pool does not guarantee you an offer of employment.
  • Further participation in other recruitment selection processes (for example written application and/or interview) to further assess suitability for appointment to a specific position may be required.

It is a mandatory condition of employment that for any CHQ employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16 (PDF)) and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70 (PDF).
