North West Hospital and Health Service are looking for an experienced Health professional to join their team based at Mount Isa.  Applicants with qualifications as a Psychologist or Social Worker or Occupational Therapist are encouraged to apply.

About the role

Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATODS) are a multidisciplinary team that provide a comprehensive range of public health and clinical interventions aimed at reducing the risks and harms associated with substance use.

• Deliver evidence-based drug and alcohol assessment, treatment, and support across the North West Hospital and Health Service.

• Manage a clinical caseload with accurate, compliant documentation.

• Support community engagement initiatives to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm.

• Participate in the Needle and Syringe Program, collaborating with Queensland Health and partner agencies.

Requirements

      • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
      • Psychologists: Mandatory possession of a tertiary degree in Psychology and eligible for current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Psychology Board.
      • Social Workers: Mandatory possession of a tertiary degree in Social Work providing eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.
      • Blue Card Check (Social Workers): Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
      • Occupational Therapists: Mandatory possession of a degree in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for current registration (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapist Board.
      • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
      • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
      • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
      • A period of probation may apply.
