Hughenden Multipurpose Health Service are seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (Identified) or an Aboriginal Health Worker (Identified) Trainee to join their team. This is a permanent full-time role or a temporary full-time role, up to 18 months.

The position works across the Western Corridor facilities and communities which are Richmond, Hughenden and Charters Towers. Travel is expected and overnight shared accommodation is provided when travelling to other sites.

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

The role  
The primary purpose of this position is to provide generalist primary health services in the First Nations community by working within a delegated Model of Care.  

This position is co-located at Hughenden for delivery of services to Hughenden and Richmond; and Charters Towers for training and support.  This position is part of the Western Corridor team of health workers.  Clinical supervision will be provided for all health worker positions.

Employment Term

  • Permanent full-time (HWF2)
  • Fixed Term Temporary full-time, up to 18 months (HWF1)

Generous remuneration package value up to $79,353 (HWF2) or $76,897 (HWF1) p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $2516.80 - $2665.80 p.f. (HWF2) or $2261.00 - $2583.30 (HWF1)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • Professional Development allowance + leave
  • Other employment benefits may include: salary sacrificing options, locality allowances, employee wellness & assistance programs & access to corporate discounts

Role requirements   

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. 
  • For appointment at HW2 Level – Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
  • For appointment at HW1 Level – Enrolled in Certificate III in Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.  Certificate to be completed within 18 months of commencement.
  • This position also requires a Blue Card Check ('Working with Children check'), Aged Care Pre Employment Screening and a current Drivers License prior to commencement of duty.
