Your opportunity:

Specialists with a cardio-thoracic anaesthesia sub-speciality have the opportunity to deliver high quality anaesthetic and perioperative care to patients of the tertiary referral Townsville University Hospital (TUH), with a special focus on Adult Cardiac Surgery and Perioperative Echocardiography.

The Cardiothoracic Surgical Service performs approximately 400 open heart procedures and more than 100 thoracic procedures per year. There is also an active interventional cardiology service including electrophysiological procedures, percutaneous ASD repairs and TAVI. A burgeoning ECMO service commenced in mid 2019. The TUH cardiothoracic surgical service is the only tertiary CTS north of Brisbane in the country and is the referral centre for Northern Queensland's growing and diverse population.

Permanent full-time role, 80 hours per fortnight.

Prior to being made an offer of employment, you will be required to provide proof of qualification and Specialist registration with AHPRA.

FANZCA preferred.

Demonstrated experience and recency in anaesthesia for Adult Cardiac Surgery and Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography.

A 6-month probationary period may apply. 

Pre-employment screening, including criminal history checks and VPD risk role compliance, will be conducted for the successful applicant.

Our offer:

Generous remuneration package value up to $564,048 p.a., comprising:

• Base salary between $204,206 and $258,910 p.a. (L18-L27)
• employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%)
• 5 weeks annual leave + 17.5% loading
• Attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary)
• Regional and rural attraction allowance (5% base salary)
• Motor vehicle allowance - $21,000 or $25,500 p.a.
• Professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave
