Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking an experienced and client focused Speech Pathologist to join the team at Child Development Service located at the Kirwan Health Campus.
There is both a temporary full-time and part-time position available, up to 03/01/2025, with a possibility of an additional 12 month extension.
This service provides integrated and holistic assessment and management of children with complex developmental delay.

The opportunity
The Speech Pathologist delivers base level speech pathology clinical services within a community based, multidisciplinary, paediatric early intervention allied health service utilising a family centred, transdisciplinary approach.
This service provides integrated and holistic assessment and management of children with complex developmental delay.
Employment Term
- Fixed Term Temporary full-time and part-time, up to 03/01/2025,
with possibility of an additional 12 months
(part-time hours are 45.6 hours per fortnight)
Role requirement
- The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Speech Pathology.
- Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided.
- Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:
- Deliver a base level clinical services (which includesassessment, analysis, health specific intervention, and case management) for children with complex development delays.
- Work co-operatively and effectively in a transdisciplinary, community based paediatric allied health team.
- Undertake your practice within a family partnership framework.
- Demonstrate effective communication in both clinical and operational domains with clients, managers, peers and other stakeholders.
- Support the development of students at Child Development Service.
- Actively participate in service planning and development within the Child Development Service.

- Salary rates between $2941.70 - $4459.00 p.f. (full-time) and $38.70-$58.67 p.h. (part-time) (HP3)
