The Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATODS), is located at the North Ward Health Campus and the Vincent Health Campus. ATODS provide a range of services including intake, assessment and counselling, Opiate treatment program, Health promotion and Needle-and-syringe program.
The ATODS team are currently seeking to recruit a AOD Clinical Nurse to their team on a casual basis.

About your opportunity:
Casual position available
As a clinician working in the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (ATODS), you will provide a broad range of base level assessments and interventions to individuals, their families, and groups in the context of minimising harm from substance use at all levels within the Townsville geographical area.
This role will regularly involve providing detailed assessment or case manager services and therapy to people affected by all types of substances and a diverse range of populations and cultures, including consumers who are opiate dependant (on the Queensland Opiate Treatment Program (QOTP). Provision of outreach service may include other locations within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service at times.
Casual Rates of $68.06 to $72.87 per hour (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1)
Requirements:
- Proof of qualification, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Highly Desirable:
- Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements) with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
- Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing or Alcohol and Other Drugs would be well regarded.
- While not mandatory, eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be well regarded.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Possession of class C drivers' licence.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
- All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the service.
