Position: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker (Identified)

Vacancy: Temporary Full-time up to 6 months with a possible extension up to 12 months

Location: Cultural Assessment & Liaison Team – Adult Program Area / Mental Health Service Group / Townsville University Hospital

  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications/ professional registration/ other requirements

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Appointment, and future increment progression, between pay points HWF2.1 to HWF2.3 requires:
    • o Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health, or
    • o Certificate III in Mental Health Peer Work, or
    • o Certificate III in Mental Health, or
    • o Certificate III in Alcohol and other Drugs.
  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group (MHSG) may be required to work in other areas of the Service.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class “C” motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required.
  • All employees with the Townsville Hospital and Health Service are required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety, including carrying out work in accordance with prescribed practices and procedures and in a manner that will not create health and safety hazards for either the employee or others in the workplace.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
