About the opportunity:

Position: SMO Clinical Lead - Workplace Based Assessment Program

Vacancy: Temporary Part-time up to 2 years (with the possibility of an extension up to 2 years), 16 hours per fortnight

Location: Medical Education and Workforce Services /Medical Workforce Townsville / Townsville Hospital and Health Service / Townsville University Hospital

The Medical Education Unit (MEU) is establishing an accredited Australian Medical Council (AMC) Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) Program for international medical graduates (IMGs) employed by the THHS. The initial cohort of seven IMGs will commence mid-2025. The program duration is 12 months, with two cohort intakes per year.

  • Salary range: $100.78 to $127.77 p.h. (L18-L27)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • The successful applicant must be registered as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in medical education will be highly regarded.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Well-developed communication skills and experience in liaising with clinical staff, doctors in training and service partners to support education and professional development, including negotiation and conflict management will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in or commitment to medical education and training programs with demonstrated understanding of adult education principles, research and use of best practice in medical education will be well regarded.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
