Position: Nurse Unit Manager
Vacancy: Permanent full-time
Location: Townsville University Hospital
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Unit Manager to lead our multi-disciplinary team within the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (AAMHIU). This role ensures accountability for business performance and professional standards across our 28-bed Low Dependency Unit (LDU) and 8-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU).

- Salary range: $5081.10 to $5516.60 p.a. (Nurse Grade 7)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

Requirements:
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Highly Desirable:
- Relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing.
- Credentialed status with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN). If not Credentialed with ACMHN – then willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for certification as Credentialed Mental Health Nurse.
- Appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 or the willingness to undertake and complete the requirements for appointment.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
How you will be assessed?
- Provide expert nursing leadership and coordination within an Mental Health environment.
- Integrate the strategic direction and priorities for quality improvement into the clinical service, establishing a quality framework.
- High level of communication skills required for problem solving and decision making.
- Use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
- You will have demonstrated in previous roles skills of active listening, consultation and sharing information with staff, colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
