About the opportunity:

Position: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Hospital Liaison Officer (Identified)

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

About the role:

The Indigenous Hospital Liaison Officer will provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families.

The Indigenous Hospital Liaison Officer will support and work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service by providing cultural consultancy and education to ensure health services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients are culturally appropriate and safe.

Enjoy generous casual rates of $47.33 to $65.09 p.h.

Requirements:

  • An approved Certificate IV or Diploma qualification (or higher) in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, health, community/human services, or other field relevant to the role subject to the approval of the Office of First Nations Health.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted including criminal history clearance and Blue Card Checks.
