The Occupational Therapy Department located at Townsville University Hospital is seeking an experienced and client focused Occupational Therapy - Senior to provide services to Palliative Care.

PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary part-time position, commencing ASAP - 21/12/2025, working 30.4 hours per fortnight . There is a possibility of an extension for an additional 12 months.

This role will deliver high level Occupational Therapy clinical services and leadership in the specialist area of Palliative Care to patients within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

This position is a job-share and requires the applicant to work on Thursdays and Fridays and will be required to work weekends on a rostered basis through the Department's Weekend Service.

About the opportunity:

Position: Occupational Therapist - Senior (Palliative Care)

Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary part-time, commencing ASAP - 20/12/2025 (30.4 hours per fortnight)

Location: Nutition and Dietitics Department, Townsville University Hospital

This position provides occupational therapy leadership within a specialist palliative care setting demonstrating a high level of knowledge and skill to support and advise other Occupational Therapists within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service working in oncology, palliative and cancer care incorporating clinical supervision, consulting, and quality activities.

This includes the provision of clinical supervision and education as well as the identification and implementation of quality improvement activities.

Working in a tertiary teaching hospital with links to James Cook University, you will have access to academic resources and potential research collaborations, further enhancing your professional growth and development.

  • Salary range: $64.64 to $69.55 p.h. (HP4)
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata)  with 17.5% loading

Requirements:

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Occupational Therapy, and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Roster: This position is a job-share and requires the applicant to work on Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Roster: This position is required to work on weekends on a rostered basis through the Department's Weekend Service.
  • This is a VPD risk role and mandatory requirements must be meet.
