PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary full-time position, commencing 08/09/2025 - 06/04/2026. There is a possibility of an extension for an additional 12 months.
The Principal Medical Education Officer provides educational expertise and leadership in the delivery of medical education to prevocational medical graduates, while ensuring ongoing training accreditation requirements are met.

About the opportunity:
Position: Principal Medical Education Officer
Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary full-time, commencing 08/09/2025 - 06/04/2026
**PLEASE NOTE - This is a possibility of an additional 12 month extension**
Location: Medical Education and Workforce Services, Townsville University Hospital
The Australian Medical Council (AMC) have revised the national prevocational training framework to expand to a two-year program, introduce mandatory entrustable professional activities, global judgement at the end of the year, and new and strengthened Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander outcome statements. The prevocational training program is required to be accredited with the state-based accreditation council – Prevocational Medical Accreditation Queensland (PMAQ). This role will support the MEU in preparing, implementing and maintaining the accreditation of the prevocational training program for Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
In addition to the above, the Townsville Hospital and Health Service have recently received accreditation for the AMC Workplace Based Assessments (WBA) Program to commence July 2025. The PMEO will assist the new WBA Program Team in the implementation of the program, including reviewing accreditation requirements and assessor training.

Requirements:
- Mandatory: Tertiary-level qualification in either education or a health-related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in education and/or clinical teaching would be advantageous.
