About the opportunity

The Senior Finance Officer will contribute to a range of Finance Branch activities, using effective communication and engagement skills to foster positive working relationships with stakeholders from across work units / disciplines. The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for maintaining financial accounting and administrative services to meet legislative requirements and to assist the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) to have a strong financial accounting framework in place.

The role will contribute expert advice and recommendations in the areas of financial accounting, record keeping, audit and financial reporting, internal financial management assurance and assist with improving the financial accounting function of the THHS. You will use your skills and experience to rapidly acquire knowledge of the legislation and financial management frameworks that apply to Queensland Health.

Your ability to process large amounts of data from multiple sources, coupled with your experience in researching and analysing information will be used to develop logical and clearly presented reports for stakeholders, and be used as the basis for the practical solutions you recommend.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $4046.40 to $4402.60 p.f. (AO5)
  • 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

  • Possession of a qualification relevant to business and specifically accounting and registration with an accounting professional body is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in health service delivery is desirable but not mandatory. 
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
