Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking a Clinical Nurse, Nurse Grade 6 Band 1 to join the team within the Paediatrics ICU Retrievals Unit/Women's and Children's Service Group at the Townsville University Hospital on a Temporary Part-time basis for a period of 12 months commencing on 21/07/2025 with a possible extension of a further 3 months. Paediatric retrievals provide consultation and emergency air and road retrievals for all parts of Nrth QLD. |

- Salary range: $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse (NRG 6) (Paediatric Retrievals) within the Townsville University Hospital (TUH). The role of the clinical nurse, paediatric retrievals is to provide advanced clinical care through assessing, evaluating, and stabilising the patient's clinical status at the referring hospital, during transportation of the patient and prior to admission to the receiving centre.
Requirements:
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Mandatory: Commitment to complete associated agencies training requirements such as Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET). Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) qualification or commitment to complete on next available course and then maintain annual competency in APLS.
- Attainment of Paediatric Critical Care Specific Competencies are mandatory for all nursing staff working within the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, as well as ongoing professional development relevant to the delivery of the relevant speciality.
- Highly Desirable: Adult Life Support certificate. Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field or working towards.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
