THHS are seeking a Staff Specialist to join the team within Maternal Fetal Medicine, Women's and Children's Service Group at the TUH on a Temporary Part-time basis (40 hrs pf) until 28/02/2027.

The Northern Queensland Maternal Fetal Medicine Service is the only service outside south-east Queensland providing a comprehensive range of screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic services for women and families in public and private healthcare sectors.

  • Salary range: $100.78 to $127.77 p.h. (L18-L27)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

About your opportunity

Townsville University Hospital is continuing to expand the established North Queensland tertiary Maternal Fetal Medicine Service (MFM), increasing our expert clinical support and management, and saving families from expensive and disruptive travel to Brisbane. The Townsville Maternal Fetal Medicine Service is one of the few regional MFM units in Australia and the only MFM Department outside south-east Queensland.

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. 
  • Qualified as a medical practitioner, and as specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the Medical Board of Australia and either qualifications as a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) subspecialist with Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or currently in training to obtain MFM subspecialty (MFM training fellow with RANZCOG).
  • Appointment to this position requires Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. 
  • Appointment to this position requires subspeciality qualification in MFM with Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or a current approved training position with RANZCOG as MFM training fellow.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. 
  • Travel: Travel by light aircraft may be required for both outreach and rarely to provide care in an emergency.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
