Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the team within the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Townsville University Hospital on a fixed term temporary full-time or part time basis ASAP up to 12 months (possible extension to 3 months) A registered nurse in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides comprehensive, specialised care to critically unwell and high dependency care to infants, children, and adolescents. |

- Salary range: $3171.90 to $4068.50 p.f. or $41.73 to $53.53 p.h. (Nurse Grade 5)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
About your opportunity
The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a five (5) bed paediatric critical care and high dependency care unit, as well as a Paediatric Retrieval Service (Yalurin) which sits within the Women's and Children's Service Group. PICU RNs manage complex medical equipment while continuously assessing patients for changes in condition. RNs administer critical medications, assist with advanced procedures, and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with paediatric intensivists and multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements:
Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration
- Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
- Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
- Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
