- Casual rate: $123.95 to $157.16 p.h. (L18-L27)
About your opportunity
The SMO will be rostered to provide support to retrieval services and available within 30min to lead the retrieval response to areas in NQ / FNQ (and potentially others) as required to support the retrieval of critically ill / injured children to Townsville or other hospitals as required for clinical care.
Experience in care of children of all ages including the below will be required;
- Airway and Ventilation, IV access and circulatory support
- Credentialled/eligible for credentialling in one of: PICU/ICU/Anaesthesia/Emergency departments in Townsville
- Experience in retrieval medicine with paediatric experience preferable OR available to upskill in this area.
- Be willing and available for up to 0.25FTE (20hr per fortnight with attached on call cover) to support roster cover for retrieval team out of TUH and for NQ / FNQ with potential to transfer to SEQ if required. Shifts may also be rostered on consecutive days in a month (4 x 10 hour shifts with overnight on call) and fatigue will be managed in subsequent days.
- Medially fit to fly and perform duties, Willingness to participate in regular HUET / APLS course updates, Willingness to upskill if required in paediatric airway management, vascular access and other areas as directed by the Yalurin Clinical Lead.
Requirements:
- All applicants must be awarded SoCP by the THHS Credentialing and SoCP committee.
- Fellowship (or imminently expected) with the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) or equivalent international specialist qualification.
- Other qualifications from colleges that confer Specialist registration, (for example FANZCA, FACEM, FRACP), may be considered, provided the candidate is able to demonstrate sufficient experience at an advanced level of training in Paediatric Intensive Care, and is able to act independently in a Specialist capacity.
- This position may require the incumbent to work at other facilities within the Townsville HHS and greater Queensland region (e.g. Brisbane).
