What your day could look like
As a Dental Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting oral health outcomes for patients across the region. From preparing treatment spaces to reassuring patients during care, your work helps create safe, calm and effective clinical experiences. You'll collaborate closely with dentists and the wider team to deliver care that reflects compassion, dignity and trust.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Supporting smooth, efficient dental procedures that prioritise patient comfort and safety
- Working side by side with clinicians to deliver high‑quality care across community and school settings
- Maintaining clean, compliant clinical environments that protect patients and colleagues
- Sharing knowledge and ideas that strengthen teamwork, learning and continuous improvement
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who brings both skill and heart to your work. Calm under pressure and attentive to detail, you know how much reassurance and teamwork matter in healthcare. You take pride in supporting others to deliver their best, and you feel proud knowing your work helps people feel safe, respected and cared for. You're not just assisting procedures — you're contributing to healthier smiles and stronger community trust every day.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- A recognised dental assisting qualification and practical clinical experience
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention, safety and patient‑centred care
- Clear communication skills, empathy, and a collaborative mindset
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have additional training in sterilisation or experience across diverse or community‑based settings.
Above all, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health: compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage — delivering care that truly makes a difference.
This role is about supporting quality care today while building healthier futures for our community.
