What your day could look like
As an Anaesthetic Technician Trainee, you'll play an important role in supporting patients before, during and after anaesthesia, helping surgical teams deliver safe, high‑quality care to the Darling Downs community. From preparing specialised equipment to staying alert to patient needs, you'll contribute to outcomes that matter every single day.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Supporting anaesthetists during procedures by assisting with equipment, monitoring, and patient safety
- Working closely with theatre and perioperative teams to ensure smooth, coordinated care
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and ready anaesthetic environment that supports excellent clinical outcomes
- Building your capability through supervised practice, study, and ongoing learning opportunities
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who brings care, focus and curiosity to your work. You take pride in supporting patients at vulnerable moments, stay calm under guidance, and value learning from those around you. You're motivated not just to gain a qualification, but to grow into a trusted, capable clinician who contributes to safer care and stronger teams. Acting with compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage is core to how you show up every day.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Enrolment in a Diploma of Anaesthetic Technology, with first‑year requirements completed
- The ability to work under supervision, follow clinical standards, and build technical knowledge
- Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to teamwork and patient advocacy
- Willingness to learn, reflect, and actively develop your professional skills
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in a clinical or perioperative setting and/or exposure to regional or rural healthcare environments.
In this role, you'll support safe anaesthetic care, grow your clinical confidence, and contribute to a health service that lives its values every day.
