As an Occupational Therapist Trainee, you'll play an important role in supporting recovery-focused care across our mental health service. From building your clinical capability to working closely with experienced clinicians, you'll help deliver care that strengthens independence, dignity and wellbeing for the people we serve.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Supporting supervised clinical activities that help consumers build skills and confidence

- Communicating clearly with consumers, families and colleagues to support safe, connected care
- Contributing to service improvement through accurate documentation, organisation and initiative
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who brings curiosity, compassion and a genuine desire to grow. You value learning, teamwork and the chance to make a real difference in people's lives. You take pride in showing integrity, staying organised and stepping forward with courage as you develop your clinical identity. You're not just here to complete tasks — you're here to support meaningful recovery and build a career with purpose.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Proof of enrolment in an occupational therapy degree
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to learn, take direction and work within your scope of practice
- Strong organisational skills and initiative to manage your workload
You'll stand out if you have experience in mental health or rural health settings and/or have completed relevant clinical placements.
Above all, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health: compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage — shaping care that truly matters.
