About the role

As a Healthcare Ambassador, you will work within the Healthcare Security team and alongside clinical staff, to provide a proactive, people-centred approach to engage with individuals in designated clinical areas, helping to reduce anxiety, enhance the patient experience and support positive behaviours. This is a unique, non-traditional role that focuses on building rapport, providing reassurance and using effective communication and verbal de-escalation techniques to assist people who may be experiencing distress, confusion or frustration.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with MNH values as outlined below.
  • Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and work policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

  • Continually monitors and actively patrols the designated clinical areas and proactively engages with patients, visitors and staff to develop a positive safety culture.
  • Create opportunities to enhance the user experience by making connections with those in the area and, where possible, alleviating some of the stresses and anxiety through respectful interpersonal interactions.
