What your day could look like

As a Fitter, you'll help ensure healthcare facilities, equipment and infrastructure remain safe, functional and ready to support patients, staff and the wider community. From maintaining critical mechanical systems to solving complex maintenance challenges, you'll work with a collaborative team that helps keep health services running smoothly every day.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Maintaining and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment to support reliable health service operations.
  • Diagnosing issues and delivering practical solutions that minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Providing trusted trade advice and technical guidance to support maintenance planning and service delivery.
  • Contributing to a safe, efficient workplace by applying quality workmanship and industry best practice standards.

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who takes pride in quality work and understands the difference reliable equipment can make in a healthcare environment. You bring integrity to every task, show initiative when solving problems, and build positive relationships through respectful communication. Whether you're responding to a maintenance issue or supporting a larger improvement project, you'll feel proud knowing your expertise helps create safer environments for patients, visitors and colleagues. You're not just maintaining equipment, you're helping deliver better healthcare outcomes for the community.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter or Fitter & Turner recognised in Queensland.
  • Strong experience maintaining and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and provide practical trade advice.
  • Confidence using digital technology to manage work orders, estimates and maintenance records.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience working across diverse facilities or complex operational environments and/or additional skills in machining, fabrication or maintenance improvement initiatives.

Above all, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health: Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage.
