What your day could look like

As a Costing and Reporting Analyst, you'll play a crucial role in helping Darling Downs Health make informed decisions that improve patient care and service performance. By transforming data into meaningful insights, you'll support clinicians and leaders to understand activity, costs, and opportunities for improvement across our health service. Working with a collaborative finance and analytics team, your work will have real impact on how care is delivered today and planned for tomorrow.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Turning patient‑level costing and activity data into clear insights that support clinical and managerial decision‑making
  • Partnering with clinical and operational teams to explain trends, benchmark performance, and identify opportunities to improve quality and productivity
  • Strengthening data integrity and reporting by designing checks, audits, and processes that build confidence in the information used across the service
  • Creating regular and ad hoc reports and dashboards that help leaders see the story behind the numbers and act with confidence

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity and purpose to data. You're curious by nature, thoughtful in your analysis, and confident communicating insights that influence real decisions. You take pride in knowing your work helps clinicians focus on what matters most — delivering safe, effective care — and you approach challenges with integrity, courage, and a mindset open to innovation. You're not just reporting numbers; you're helping shape better outcomes for patients and communities.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Experience, or the ability to quickly build capability, in health information, financial, or activity‑based costing systems
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with confidence working with large datasets and translating insights into practical outcomes
  • Experience creating reports or dashboards using tools such as Excel, reporting platforms, or business intelligence software
  • Clear, collaborative communication skills and a genuine interest in working with clinicians and stakeholders
