What your day could look like

As a Clinical Nurse in Child and Youth Mental Health Services, you'll play a vital role in supporting children, young people and families to navigate complex mental health challenges. From delivering therapeutic care in the community to collaborating across disciplines, your work will help strengthen recovery, safety and wellbeing across the Darling Downs.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Providing thoughtful, evidence‑informed mental health care that supports recovery and positive outcomes for young people and families
  • Partnering closely with clinicians, families, schools and community services to coordinate care and share responsibility
  • Using sound clinical judgement to respond to risk, support safety and guide care planning in complex situations
  • Contributing ideas and leadership that strengthen quality, learning and continuous improvement within the team

Let's talk about you!

You're a clinician who leads with compassion and confidence. You bring calm thinking into complex moments, value collaboration, and care deeply about making a genuine difference for children and families. You take pride in delivering safe, respectful care and in being someone others can rely on. Guided by integrity, dignity, innovation and courage, you're drawn to meaningful work in a regional community setting — with practical support available to help you relocate and settle locally if needed.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse, with experience in mental health care
  • Strong assessment, case management and clinical decision‑making capability
  • Confidence working collaboratively across disciplines and community settings
  • A commitment to learning, reflection and contributing positively to team culture

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in child and youth mental health, rural or community practice, and/or postgraduate study in mental health nursing.
