What your day could look like
As Senior Communications Officer, you'll play a vital role in helping people across the health service feel informed, connected and confident in the direction we're heading. From shaping organisation-wide messages to supporting senior leaders, your work will help teams focus on what matters most for patients and communities.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Designing and delivering internal communication strategies that cut through complexity and drive understanding
- Partnering with executives and senior leaders to craft messages, speeches and briefings that inspire action
- Strengthening internal channels so information is timely, tailored and trusted
- Anticipating risks and emerging issues, offering clear advice that supports confident decision‑making
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who brings both strategic thinking and genuine care to your work. You understand the power of communication to build trust, guide change and bring people together, especially in complex environments. You take pride in helping leaders and teams communicate with clarity and purpose, knowing your work supports better outcomes for patients and staff alike. Guided by compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage, you're motivated by impact, not just outputs.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Proven experience delivering complex or high-profile communication initiatives
- Strong stakeholder skills, with confidence advising and influencing senior leaders
- Excellent judgement, written communication and issue-identification capabilities
- The ability to manage competing priorities with focus and resilience
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in health, government or other large, complex organisations, and/or relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism or a related field.
Most importantly, you're passionate about purposeful communication that strengthens connection, supports people through change, and reflects the values we live by.
This is a role where your words help shape understanding, trust and care across an entire health service.
