About the role
This role will work under general direction to facilitate the development, planning and delivery of support services to carers of the mental health service. This role provides recovery orientated, person centred, ethical carer peer support to carers, families and significant others who are supporting people accessing mental health services.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge of recovery principles and strength-based approach in working with a carer/s for a family member accessing mental health services
- Well-developed communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to advocate for the carer perspective to identify service improvement.
- Ability to co-facilitate education and deliver information to mental health service users.
- Ability to share lived experience of recovery to assist carers and staff within the role.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived/living experience of mental health and/or substance use issues, or a personal lived/living experience of caring for a person with mental health and/or substance use issues.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
