What your day could look like

As a Recreation Officer, you'll play an important role in enriching the lived experience of aged care residents. From creating engaging lifestyle programs to strengthening community connections, you'll help foster a welcoming environment where residents feel supported, connected and empowered to enjoy each day.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Designing and delivering meaningful recreational, social and wellbeing activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities and goals.
  • Building positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers and colleagues to create a sense of community and belonging.
  • Supporting residents' physical, emotional and social wellbeing through engaging programs that encourage participation, confidence and connection.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance resident experiences and promote high-quality aged care services.

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who brings energy, compassion and creativity to every interaction. You understand that meaningful activities can brighten a person's day, strengthen connections and enhance quality of life. Whether you're supporting a resident to reconnect with a favourite pastime or helping create opportunities for social engagement, you'll take pride in making a genuine difference. Guided by compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage, you're committed to creating positive experiences for older people and helping them feel valued in the place they call home.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Experience supporting lifestyle, recreational or wellbeing programs, ideally within aged care, health or community settings.
  • The ability to adapt activities to meet individual interests, abilities and cognitive support needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a respectful and person-centred approach.
  • A current C Class driver's licence and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have a Certificate III in Diversional Therapy (or are currently working towards completion) and experience engaging older people living with cognitive impairment.

Most importantly, you'll be passionate about creating moments that support wellbeing, connection and dignity for older people every day.
