The Office of the Assistant Director General, Services and Infrastructure Planning Branch, Infrastructure Services Division, is on the lookout for two Principal Project Officers to join our newly created Focused Initiatives Team (FIT). We are hiring for a 12-month period, dedicated to delivering high-profile and complex projects for the Department of Education.

Ideal candidates will have proven leadership and management skills and showcase a forward-thinking, constructive attitude towards the development and execution of complex projects. Experience in project planning, effective collaboration, and maintaining strong governance including driving project through Cabinet processes are essential qualities we are seeking.

About the Team
The Focused Initiatives Team (FIT) is a newly created team within Infrastructure Services Division with the goal of driving high profile and complex projects for the Department of Education. This team will utilise their networks and relationships working collaboratively across the Department to implement approved plans, identifying and managing risks.

We are currently recruiting for 2 x AO7 Principal Project Officers, as well as the Manager and Director roles in FIT. What a great opportunity to be a part of a start up team contributing to significant infrastructure initiatives enhancing education in Queensland!

About the Role:

The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:

  • Experience in supporting planning and implementing strategic projects involving change for stakeholder groups. 
  • Experience drawing together multiple sources of information to develop recommendations with demonstrated critical thinking skills, including challenging assumptions and looking at data from different perspectives to draw insights for multiple audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, use a project to stimulate new ideas, inspire others, learn and adjust ways of working to enhance effectiveness. 
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate findings and insights to different audiences. 
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with colleagues, and stakeholders including communicating clearly, and participating in a team approach to deliver project outcomes.

This role requires that an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
