    Caseworkers provide professional intervention to young offenders subject to Youth Justice interventions. You will monitor young offenders' compliance with court orders and work proactively, within a statutory environment, to reduce re-offending and improve positive choices.

    You will undertake a high standard of record keeping and prepare written reports and other relevant documents that support best practice outcomes for young people in the justice system. Cherbourg Youth Justice prioritises relationship-based, culturally sensitive service delivery. Cherbourg Youth Justice is co-located with Cherbourg Aboriginal Community. We also service communities throughout the South Burnett. You will work as part of a collaborative team with youth workers, external agencies, Elders and community members to achieve positive outcomes for young offenders, families, victims and the wider community.

    FGM Convenors are independent from the ongoing intervention provided by Child Safety Services.

    The neutrality of the position enables the focus to be on the process of the FGM, enabling each person’s voice to be heard and ideas to be considered, facilitating the group to work together to achieve their objective.

    Family Group Meetings are a collaborative case planning process. They are purposeful meetings that are held at critical planning and decision-making points within the casework process to involve family members and their networks in assessing and planning for their children’s safety and wellbeing.
