    The purpose of the EMD role is to receive emergency calls, provide essential prearrival advice, dispatch QAS resources and coordinate patient transport movements for the Queensland community.

    The EMD role requires a high level of judgement and decision making ability whilst:
    ▪ typing proficiently, including accurate recording of incident details;
    ▪ operating complex computer systems within a multi-screen computer environment;
    ▪ employing both assertiveness and empathy when speaking to the caller;
    ▪ triaging incoming calls for assistance utilising a systematic script in order to determine the likely severity of the patient
    ▪ dispatching and managing multiple resource responses simultaneously;
    ▪ maintaining a high level of situational operational awareness;
    ▪ continually reflecting on operational practice; and
    ▪ maintaining fitness for duty

    The Executive Manager, Service Planning is a key operational role within the Service Planning Unit, reporting to the Director, Service Planning. The role provides high level input into the strategic direction of QAS service planning and operational resourcing strategies, policies and practices, and the operations of the Service Planning Unit, to support the provision of high-quality ambulance service delivery.

    The role liaises with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement a variety of resourcing strategies relating to operational station staff profiling, operational resourcing, and QAS building capital works projects, as they affect QAS Regional programs.

    The role also provides a high level of support to the Director, Service Planning, in managing service planning and operational resourcing projects, work programs and initiatives.

    The Educator (Communications) assists the Senior Educator (Communications) in the delivery of the total spectrum of communications learning and development activities and other related education and training programs within the QAS.

    The role is responsible for meeting the communications, operational and technical educational and developmental needs of QAS Communications personnel, with a primary focus on students. The Educator (Communications) assists with the development and implementation of the QAS Strategic Learning and Development Framework and Plan in line with national and international best practice, to support the delivery of required program outcomes.

    The Executive Officer reports to the Executive Manager and is responsible for the provision of professional executive support services to ensure the efficient operation of the Office of the Commissioner. This includes the coordination of responses to internal, external and Ministerial correspondence, and the provision of policy advice in accordance with QAS strategic direction.

    The role provides a high level of support to the Executive Manager, Director, Office of the Commissioner and Commissioner in leading and managing the work program and administrative functions.
