    The role is within the Sunshine Coast Western Queensland (SCWQ) Region based at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court reporting to the Regional Director (SCWQ). The Relieving Registrar provides skilled management and leadership in the operation of the Queensland Courts Service registry including achieving success in resource management, community engagement and service improvement.

    The role also supports the judiciary in the delivery of justice and ensures that the appropriate efficient processes and systems are in place to deliver equitable services to all court users. The role has the responsibility for servicing up to 13 courts in total including the provision of Queensland Government Agency Program QGAP; agency services for which the department has established agreements inclusive of transport and main road processes.

    The Principal Legal Officer provides authoritative advice on complex justice policy issues and develops options, policies, strategies and initiatives in relation to justice policy issues.

    Strategic Policy leads the development and coordination of the implementation of proposals for primary and subordinate legislation within the Justice portfolio. Strategic Policy provides policy advice to the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, the Director-General, other State Government departments and Commonwealth agencies about areas for which the Attorney-General and department are responsible. Strategic Policy also drafts ministerial and departmental correspondence regarding these matters and often publishes discussion papers, exposure drafts of Bills and similar documents for community consultation.

    The Deputy Registrar Beenleigh courthouse assists the Senior Registrar in providing management and leadership in the operation of the Queensland Courts Service registry including contributing to the achievement of success in community engagement and service improvement. The role also supports the judiciary, courts’ users and Queensland Courts Service partners through supervising a skilled team of staff, making effective use of registry resources and making informed statutory decisions.

    The Deputy Registrar reports to the Senior Registrar, Beenleigh courthouse, South Queensland region.
    Beenleigh Court is a dual court registry incorporating a Specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Court Registry. There are six resident Magistrates with one Magistrate circuiting to Beaudesert 3 days each week. There is one resident District Court Judge and a second Judge sits regularly throughout

    Are you interested in applying your professional skills in the criminal justice system? An opportunity exists to be part of a team to implement a pilot program in the criminal justice system to improve access to justice for vulnerable witnesses. The Queensland Intermediary Scheme (QIS) pilot program will provide intermediary services to witnesses with communication difficulties to facilitate communication with police and the courts in relation to child sexual offences. An intermediary will assess and report a witness’ communication needs; inform police and/or the courts on how best to communicate with a witness; and be independent and impartial in helping to elicit better quality evidence. Intermediaries are professionals who will be provided upon request to police and/or the courts and will come from a background of psychology, social work, speech pathology or occupational therapy.

As a guide, there are more than 50,000 schemes and 500,000 lots in Queensland’s community titles sector, comprising a wide variety of schemes and interests.

    The Commissioner’s Office provides information and dispute resolution services to those involved community titles schemes in Queensland to support the self-management of those schemes. The Commissioner’s Office resolves disputes through conciliation and, where required, adjudication.

    The CCQ assists the State Coroner’s statutory function to oversee and coordinate the Queensland coronial system by providing registry, administrative and legal support to seven full time Coroners and two Coronial Registrars. Administration Officers are part of a Coronial Services Team (Regional) and provide administrative support to the Coronial Services Officer and Inquest and Investigations Officer within the Southern Coroner’s registry to ensure family focused, coronial services are delivered to the bereaved in a timely and accurate manner.
