    The Fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease provides training in adult congenital heart disease and in the management of adult survivors of congenital heart surgery. This will include outpatient assessments and inpatient care. The training includes exposure to paediatric cardiology, cardiac surgical and post-operative care, as well as involvement with arrhythmia management, echocardiographic diagnosis, relevant interventional work, obstetric cardiology, general medical and psychological care. It is expected that the appointee will undertake a research project. The position is to provide a high quality service within the Hospital and Health Service and to participate, if requested in the provision of services in clinical Services Network in the Central Zone of Queensland Health.

    The Fellowship in Echocardiography provides for sub-specialty training in advanced echocardiography techniques such as 3D Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, Intraoperative Echocardiography, Intracardiac Echocardiography and Tissue Doppler Imaging. A suitable candidate for this position will have completed or be in the process of completing advanced training in Cardiology including echocardiography as per the training guidelines of the RACP. The Fellow provides medical services to all patients presenting to the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient services within the designated unit of the Department of Cardiology. On request, the Fellow should provide a consultative service to other departments. It is expected that the Fellow will be involved in the professional development of junior medical staff, and in the education of medical students.

    The Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation provides for training in the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of heart failure, mechanical cardiac support and Cardiac Transplantation. The Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Unit is the only unit in Queensland providing cardiac transplant services as well as mechanical cardiac support. It services a large heart failure population as inpatients and outpatients including telehealth. There is extensive collaboration between all the members of the multidisciplinary team in the management of these patients. A suitable candidate for this position will have successfully completed the FRACP exams and would have completed three years of advanced cardiology training.
